Ellis Island was built in 1892, and hosted over 12 millions immigrants from worldwide. It was used to bring immigrants, so the procedures were difficult: before to enter in USA the immigrants have to overcome systems as medic or bureaucratic inspections. 

The inspections were different by social classes, indeed these people who traveled in first or second class made the inspections on the board , instead the people who traveled in third or in fourth class waited that the people who made inspection on the board, then other people, who waited on wharf, could make the inspection. Ellis Island helped lots of people in pursuing the "american dream"
